Government employees can now expect the early disbursement of their year-end bonus and cash gift following the Department of Budget and Management’s (DBM) recent circular mandating the early delivery of said perks to qualified government workers.
Through Budget Circular 2024-3 issued on 25 October 2024, the DBM mandated all national government offices, state universities and colleges, government-owned or -controlled corporations, local government units, and all other government bodies concerned to give their qualified employees the year-end bonus and cash gift simultaneously with the first payroll in the month of November every year.
Said budget circular, specifically, amends Budget Circular 2016-4, where the distribution of the employment benefits is prescribed to be not earlier than November 15th.
“It has been observed that government personnel continue to experience delays in receiving bonuses and cash gifts, affecting their morale, motivation and level of job satisfaction,” says Budget Circular 2024-3.
The present circular, therefore, addresses the delay towards increasing productivity and efficiency in government operations, in particular, the delivery of the year-end bonus and cash gift to government workers.
The year-end bonus amounts to a one-month salary of the employee, and the cash gift is equivalent to Php5,000.00.
The new schedule of these benefits takes effect immediately, that is, right in the following month, November 2024.
