31 overseas Filipino workers (O.F.W.s) from the Middle East came home on Tuesday, 24 June 2025 consequent to, among others, the persisting political and military tension in the region; the recently-concluded 12-day missile exchanges involving Israel, Iran, and the United States; and the renewed Israeli assault to Palestine.
In a press release, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) reported that the repatriates arrived at Terminal 3, Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Pasay City, 26 of whom came from Israel, three from Jordan, and one from Qatar.
The Philippine government will assist these overseas workers through, among others, the DMW, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Department of Health (DOH), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
The DMW and OWWA will grant the repatriates Php150,000.00 cash support. Further, the migrant workers agency, through the National Reintegration Center for O.F.W.s, will help these Filipino workers establish livelihood or alternative employment in their homeland
The returnees will also be provided free skills-training vouchers from the TESDA and business trainings from the DTI.
They will be given airport assistance and temporary shelter or transportation going to their respective provinces.
Two of the repatriates, one cancer patient and one pregnant, will receive from the DOH medical services and assistance on top of a mental-wellness checkup.
These 31 overseas workers constituted the first batch of repatriates according to the DMW. 50 more returnees come soon.
The DMW mentioned that it currently looks into 311 requests for repatriation it has received.
